Almost There

>> Thursday, 22 October 2009

Hi guys,

Hope y'all are doing good.
Thanks for all the comments and messages.

I haven't had my baby yet (40 weeks is a long time), but Aleesha will be popping out anytime from now.

My Dr just left the house, and can you believe he said I should eat a little more. He is a big joker, I have put on enough weight already.

I'll let y'all know when I have my baby.

Philo

>> Thursday, 25 June 2009

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was able to get a bottle for urine, from one of the nurses at the hospital.

Aleesha is doing good and so is her daddy.

My mother (BW) had this house-help; Philo. She was from Badagry or is it Egun. I remember when she first got to the house, about 4/5 years ago, the babe could not speak English. With time, the babe added weight, grew breast and became something else.

Philo will spend 2hours if you send her to buy bread for you. She must put on makeup to empty the bin or just go down the road. I told mumc her househelp was having boyfriends outside but she would not listen to me.

With time Philo begin dey speak English (Hello, bye, how are you doing...).

Before I finally returned to 9ja, I sent some things down via cargo, or thru anyone that was coming to 9ja. When I finally returned around the time of my wedding, I noticed Philo was wearing clothes she could not have gotten herself, clothes that looked so familiar, I could swear they were from the things I had sent to 9ja.

I confirmed this when she boldly wore a pair of jeans, I knew was clearly mine. I called her and told her she had stolen the jeans from me, but I dint have her time now cos I was getting married in 2 days.

When I returned from the moon, I called mumc and told her Philo had stolen a lot of my things, and I had confirmed cos they were truly missing when I unpacked. Imagine mumc and popc telling me maybe I gave them to her and forgot. I was so annoyed, I just told them, they should sha be careful.

Few days later, Philo was missing and so were some of mumc's jewellery, 150k (naira), and some $. Mumcy now called me to tell me I warned her o. I could not say I told you so. This happened November last year.

On mumcy's birthday, she got a call from the police that Philo had been found in Portharcourt (BW lives in Lagos). This was good news cos, we all wanted to know where she had been and show her father we did not use her for JAZZ/JUJU.

She narrated one stupid, but very interesting story when she arrived;

One faithful day mumc sent Philo to buy stuff in the market. There she was approached by some men who told her they had a business proposition for her. She followed them to their office/warehouse, where she gave them 4k of the 5k mumc gave her, they told her it wasn't enough for the business that she should go back home and bring jewellery and/or cash. They gave her back the 4k.

She went back home, but mumc did not allow her go out again that day. So she chilled till the next day, when she stole the things and ran off to the guys. She gave the things to them, and they told her the process was money multiplication, and that it would take 3 months to manifest. Since she could obviously not return home, she decided to stay with them for the duration.

During the 3 months, the guys all had sex with her, and asked her to rub their sperm on her breast (to increase the money she will make).

When the 3months lapsed, she was put in a bus going to PH. She was told she will get her money there. The mumu too went to PH. It took a few weeks before she realised she had been duped and was all alone in PH with no where to go. She was crying on the street, when some good Samaritans saw her and took her to the police station.

Mumc had already had the police send her picture to all stations across 9ja.

Mumc had her paraded in the area as a thief and told the police to hand her over to her brother who should take her back to her parents.

Mumc had this advice for me;
You always have to remember that a maid will always be a maid (save the exception). No matter how you treat them like your child, they will always be looking to get something from you, and not to give (save the exception).

I Must Be Pregnant

>> Monday, 15 June 2009

God I haven't had my period in months; I must be pregnant.

Forgive my absence.
Hope y'all are doing good.

My mama's birthday went really well. After saying she wasn't having a party, she ended up having 100 guests at the house. Good thing the caterer had foresight , cos she made a lot of food. I'm still feasting on the roasted goat meat and chicken.
There was a special caterer for Amala with gbegiri and ewedu (I never knew there were special caterers for food like this). I missed out on this meal and it wasn't funny at all.

Two days before her birthday, BW claimed she had nothing to wear, but on that day she changed twice. She looked really gorgeous in each outfit, hopefully I'll look that good at 50.
Chairman and BW danced to Lori le, that was a lot of fun to watch. I have to say BW trashed chairman on the dance floor.

Aleesha is doing really good, she's 17 going on 18 (weeks). I have to say I've got my mojo back; no more morning sickness. Though I still have a funny taste in my mouth & I get tired around 6:00pm.

Cravings have changed.
I find myself eating more meat/chicken lately, fried/roasted animals taste sooooo go I just have to have them. God this baby is making me eat.

I have ANC (antenatal clinic) tomorrow, and I have no bottle to collect morning urine. I will just lie when I get there (forgive me Lord).

Collecting morning urine is essential during pregnancy. It is used to test for the mothers protein & sugar levels. 1st thing the morning of your ANC, you need to take some sample of your urine; it has to be the middle portion. The middle portion; do a little wee in the toilet, then do a little wee in the bottle, then pass the rest out in the toilet. A pregnant woman's urine is bright yellow.

Take Charge

>> Tuesday, 2 June 2009

I dare you to take charge of your life
I dare you to take charge of your home
I dare you to take charge of your marriage
I dare you to take charge of your career
I dare you to take charge of whatever you are currently going through.
Take charge, Dominate, Rule, Subdue.

"Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you." Luke 10:19

Baby Talk
I woke up yesterday morning and I can officially say I have a bump; waist 29inch. I still weigh the same as before 51kg, and Aleesha is now 15 weeks. My last antenatal went well and I am glad to say, the ovarian cyst I once had has been destroyed; thanks to Aleesha growing bigger than the cyst. I have stopped throwing up and my strength has been restored, though I feel tired once in a while. All in all I am doing really good.

I wont be talking about collecting morning urine, as it seems some bloggers will prefer i skip that bit.

I have to say that the general hospitals especially Ayinke House (LASUTH), isnt a bad place to have a baby. Its actually a very good place especially if you have complications like diabetes, Hepatitis... And there are different wards from multiple rooms to single rooms with special meals and they are very affordable (from 6000 - 12,000).

Ibaje e tin poju (you are spoilt)...
see me see blessing o. My mama calls me everyday, and she ends the call with, "if you need anything just let me know, anything at all and I will get it to you." I dint take her up on this offer till last week. I called to ask if she could send someone to the market to do my monthly shopping for me. What did she say, "Ibaje e tin poju". Me I just told her, "but you always say I should ask you for whatever I need."
She did send someone in the end.

Its my mamas birthday on Thursday, and I think we are all set for "small chop-chop" at her house. I ordered a fruit cake from Dream Cakes. I'm really looking forward to the cake cos its gonna have real fruits on it.
Hopefully BW wont vex that the card I got from all we her children and the one chairman got for her, have the same words. It was a coincidence, but the words are really tight. It has something about her being a limited edition in it.

I know who Aleesha's godparents will be. When is the best time to ask them if they will love to be godparents to Aleesha?

13 Going on 14

>> Friday, 22 May 2009

I've had a baby growing inside of me for 13 weeks now.
Certain changes have taken place;

My weight has gone from 48kg to 52kg
My waist has gone from 26 to 27.5 inchs
My bra size has gone up by a cup.
I now have to drink a cup of cold milo each night to get some sleep.
I started throwing up daily in my second trimester.

Before the baby I sometimes questioned my decision to move back to Nigeria. Living here can be a lot of stress; having to cope with power issues, water issues, fuel issues...
But this morning I smiled at myself, and said, "you're gonna be a mama". It felt good.

My last clinic day was almost a disaster, as those in charge of my file at LASUTH could not find it. I wasn't going to seat and wait for them to waste my precious time, so i went to them and yarned some grammar. After sometime some man helped get my file and went on and on about how he knew my husband.

I saw the Dr and I must say I was so annoyed with him, for going on and on about how my husband must have done this and that for me as a Dr. I felt like telling him, if I wanted my husband to be my Dr I wont be here.

Cant wait for next week, when I get to go to a sane private hospital for antenatal. Glad I don't have to go back to LASUTH till 4 weeks time.

I have finally told BW about the baby. I spilled it out on sunday.
Chairman had come to pay Rabbi & I a visit, we kept on talking and gisting till it was getting late. He totally forgot he locked the gate and doors, and was with the keys, BW was waiting at the gate by then. He immediately left, but was stuck in traffic. So I had to call BW to ensure she wasn't going to flare up when chairman got home. The only thing I could think of was to tell her about the baby.

She was so happy, she even said Chairman could take as long as he liked she wasn't going to get angry. Lol! Shes being bugging me since then; have you eaten? do you need anything? will you come and spend some time with us?...

There's a Bride to be on the block Brown Sugar lets give her some blogville love.

I should tell you guys about collecting morning urine, but this post is long enough, will hopefully do so in my next post.
